Cat Point Hideaway

First of all - we were concerned about this area in general as Hurricane Helene was predicted to hit this area pretty hard a few days prior to our stay. We were grateful this area received little impact, although the area east of here was hit really hard. Hour hearts go out to these folks.
The original location we were supposed to stay had some damage that required us to be relocated to Cat Point. Forgotten Shores was WONDERFUL in handling this and making our stay easy. This place turned out to be one of our most favorite locations we have stayed yet. The location of this rental to both Apalach and the Island was ideal for us. This place provided all of our favorite things - privacy, comfort, clean, stocked and having the extras such as fire pit and bay access were perfect. We would definitely try to book here again next year.

We were a family of 12. Very comfortable! We had the best time on the bay watching sunsets and sunrise. We brought khakis and the guys loved fishing. Short drive across the bridge to beautiful beach’s.

Nestled on two acres and surrounded by trees with an extensive beach along the bay, this very private location at the end of the bridge to St. George Island is a special place. The home is quite new and nicely decorated. You cannot beat the customer service from Forgotten Shores!

As we turned down the dirt road we were greeted with a place better than we anticipated.
Every couple had their own room, there was plenty of space for our nightly dinners, the screened in porch was perfect for late talks without worrying about mosquitoes, the dogs had ample room to play outside, the home provided us with a bike rental and corn hole set which we used daily. We took daily bike rides to the pier and nature preserve to the left and right of the property. We even saw a black bear, bobcat and eagles.
We had one unforeseen problem with the refrigerator during our stay and the property managers resolved it immediately replacing the refrigerator with a brand new one. They were extremely communicative and responded immediately.
If you are looking for a place to completely get away and unplug from the world, this is the place. We loved our stay and would book again.

Great house to stay...we rented the house as we had events between St George Island, Eastpoint and Apalachacola...perfect place and had everything we needed...They even allowed us to leave our things in the house at 3 as we had a meeting to only suggestion is that there needs to be some extra bath towels for guests. Otherwise the property and staff gets an A+

The house was very comfortable and well stocked with kitchen supplies. Loved being able to have our dogs and a private beach area to walk them Beautiful sunrise views over bay. Really great spot for a family vacation! I highly recommend this place.

More enjoyable than we could have guessed !! Cat Point Hideaway is actually perfectly located. For access to both St George Island and Apalachicola. Being in Eastpoint , with the aspect of privacy and idyllic quietness was delightful.

My family and I enjoyed our week at Cat Point Hideway. House was comfortable, spacious, nicely furnished and had a great private site with easy access to St George Island and Appalachicola.

We four older women were unanimous in our feeling that this rental home exceeded our expectations, especially its unusually scenic location in a large private area speckled with live oaks, festooned with Spanish Moss. It faces the bay, beyond which is St. George’s Island, a very easy 5 miles across a causeway to its soft white sand beaches. The bay in front is backed by beach grasses and trees, absolutely beautiful, and there is a
sub-tropical forest pond out back. There is no such thing as a room with a bad view, though our hang-out room was the delightful screen porch in front (with open deck in front of it). The bedrooms were large, with big windows, great sheets etc.. The kitchen was very modern, and well supplied with table- and cookware, but do bring ALL of your own edibles and extra paper products. Every room has a TV, if you want, and the stairs to the second floor are full-width (rather than attic-type challenging) with hand-rails. We loved it, and we will come back next year, the first annual site we have chosen to return to.

The other huge plus is the wonderful town of Apalachicola, just over another 5 mile bridge to the west. It is a real treat. Between it, Eastpoint itself, and also St. George’s Island, there are splendid choices in places to eat, but do not miss very nearby Lynn’s seafood in Eastpoint, on the water.

What would i wish to be different? The bathroom lay out could be better (those using the upstairs bunk room would need to use either the upstairs main bedroom’s en suite bathroom or the powder room downstairs). The mattress in the NE corner downstairs bedroom is way too soft for anyone with a bad back. It would be a bonus if basic condiments were there (a very trivial wish, reflecting our pleasure overall!). It would be nice if it were easy enough for old ladies’ fingers to open the hot tub’s lid safety latch (we therefore didn’t use it).

Most important,

As a family that typically goes to 30A this was such a refreshing break. Slow pace. No traffic. Great cheap, fresh seafood minutes away. We had oysters every night. We rented a pontoon (minutes away) for the day and went out to Dog Island.

The house was great for our 3 families and two small dogs. House is equipped with everything you need and room to spread out on the property. Hot tub was perfect for the time of year we went after coming back from paddle boarding and kayaking. Could see coming back here again soon.

As an addendum to my prior “outstanding level” review of Cat’s Point (at Eastpoint, FL) , THAT review cut off before i had finished my important sentence starting with “most important” to have been followed by the fact that the rental agent Lindsey, was purely, totally terrific. We re-booked at the last minute to Cat’s Point after Hurricane Ian demolished our prior rental on an island offshore of Ft. Meyers, and from the moment I first called, Lindsey worked with me to smoothly reserved Cat’s Point. She exchanged MANY phone calls and texts with me, each time wholly helpful and informative, often spontaneously anticipating extra information i might want (which I did), and providing it. This was true all the way along. When we were there she dropped by with a gift of locally prepared ground coffee, itself a treat of this amazing region of Florida. I cannot speak highly enough of my help received from her throughout. We have booked again next year, partly because of that experience working with her, and aware of how that eases the way. Bravo to those who made sure she is the interface with Cat’s Point and travel planning. Thank you so much, Lindsey. We are very grateful to you.

Everyone enjoyed the beach house, well planned home, with good accommodation and a nice view of the bay. The bay water was not clear, and the beach sand was littered with mussel shells. The previous trash had not been removed upon arrival,
and was never picked up while we were there. There was an overflow of garbage when we left.

Great place to stay. We loved the location, our family loved this property. The house was very clean and spacious. Plenty of room to spread out. We had 5 adults and 1 teen and 2 pups. Was nice to be able to fish the bay right from the beach in the back yard. Beautiful home. We’ll maintain had everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Very close to all local restaurants and shops.

We regularly visit the Panhandle /Carabelle area of Florida. This time we decided to bring two dogs and the WHOLE family because my oldest son was proposing to his girlfriend. This was the best place and the trees and water made the perfect backdrop for pictures. Fishing was fun and the house was relaxing. I am completely on board with visiting here again. Close to many good places for seafood and more fishing.

This is a great secluded and quiet place close to everything nearby (Apalachicola and SGI). The fishing pier is a short walk and the property is adjacent to a protected estuary. The wildlife viewing (dolphins, osprey, blue heron, fish, etc.) was abundant and the sunrises (and a couple moonrises) were unforgettable.

This house was perfect for us! The house was immaculate! The property description was spot on. Very private yet close to everything. We will definitely be staying here again!

We loved everything about this house. The location, the views, the privacy. The house was clean and very well equipped with lots of extras. The kitchen has everything you can imagine for cooking. We loved not having to pack beach towels. The fishing pier was a great place to walk in the mornings. We will stay in this home again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Cat Point Hideaway. It was very private, quiet and extremely comfortable. The screened porch was where we spent most of our waking hours when at the house. Morning walks on the old bridge was a great way to start the day. A mile each way and something new to see each morning, including beautiful sunrises and a pair of nesting eagles were highlights. This was a well equipped and nicely laid out house. Forgotten Shores people were pleasant and responded quickly when contacted. Go to the end of the drive and turn left for a quick ride to lovely St. George Island and its white sand dog friendly beach.

We had a very nice time staying here. The house has plenty of room, was clean and exactly as described on-line. We had 5 children with us 1 to 9. Thought it would be good for them to have a small beach on the bay. What you need to know is there are thousands of hermit crabs on the beach, especially at low tide, and the water is murky/muddy at times. You can not walk on the beach barefoot. You will get cut. Great place to stay but you are giving up the wide sandy beach and clear water with waves. If you are good with that, I recommend this house.

I have been to several beach houses across Florida and Texas and this was by far the best I've stayed in. Well maintained, and beautiful home, lots of room to play outside and enjoy the water.

My husband and I (and our 2 dogs) stayed at Cat Point Hideaway for 2 weeks and the entire stay was perfect. No complaints even if I tried! The house was immaculate and still very new. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to cook multiple meals. We worked remotely for the first week and the internet was sufficient for both of us working. But the property was the highlight - steps away from what is technically a public beach but was completely ours for 95% of the stay. Quiet walks on the beach, sunrises and sunsets, there were dolphins in the bay, screened in porch for the evening, sun chairs for the morning. We loved the equipment rental option and we were able to kayak around the bay many days. I hope to make staying here a yearly tradition. I can't say enough good things about this rental!

The house is new and beautiful. It had everything we needed and more. The beach was pretty much just our beach 90% of the time. The only down to this property was the oyster shells at the beach. We could not see them just past the surf. Our dogs cut their paws. One dog even had to have surgery when we returned home for stitches and cleaning. Our dogs could swim 24/7 and this was disappointing and heart breaking. We wish we new this when booking the house and definitely recommend beach shoes for all humans and dog boots for dogs if they go in the water. Despite this we still had a great time at the house. We loved sitting on the porch just watching the ocean. We wanted to try the fire pit in the cool evenings but it was very windy most of the week. We definitely recommend this house for a private getaway for a couple or family. Sunrises and sunsets were also awazing. It is near restaurants of eastpoint and minutes away from St george island and Apalachicola
